Perhaps the bacteria in the sink were throwing a party when you arrived and hastily attempted to clean it up. Being bacteria, they couldn't quite hide the evidence of their little gathering and abandoned the balloon, hoping it wouldn't be discovered and used against them as evidence.

The universe is full of mysteries. In the immortal words of Douglas Adams: "There is a theory which states that if anybody ever discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened."

Hehe, we have a cleaning lady that comes through twice a week. She cleans the main room and bathrooms; unfortunately several of my roommates are quite dirty.

No, the dorm is "Japanese style" but run in a very... American/international way.

Ok, I just have one question here: who cleans these innovative toilets? It looks so *sparkling* in this pic. Is there a specified cleaning crew, or, as in all the animes, do the students at the school spend an hour before classes doing cleaning?

LOL thanks Mom. They were our tour guides in Kyoto; all very nice.

I'll write more soon! I think I'm going to condense 3 posts into two posts, then write one normal post and be caught up.

Health, longevity and love (from left to right if you are facing the waterfalls). I am quite impressed at your knowledge of the area!! I stayed back and took pics; I promised to share them, so I posted them early.

If you are in a tech school, I think taking a year (or just a semester like me) off of your major would rock; else it might be overkill. There are a lot of good study abroad opportunities that can fit with any major. Just not always in Japan :/

Japan rocks, btw.

That would be the waterfall below the main hall of Kiyomizu-dera? Drinking from there is supposed to bring "health, longevity, and success in studies," right? :3

Study Abroad is still something I want to do, but I'm not sure I'd want to go to Kansai. I remember being very interested in the University of Ulster (Northern Ireland), and there were a couple other places in Europe that looked promising. Spending a whole year taking classes out of major would be a great way to broaden my horizons though. Hmm-mm.

Kansai is indeed completely focused on Asian Studies. However if one is coming here to learn Japanese they are the best! I wish they offered a few other courses though; maybe a math or comp sci one!

I'm the only Computer Science major here :/

It was also a good choice for me because my University offered an excellent program for attending Kansai.

You can make it to Japan! It is not extremely expensive; apply for scholarships, work with your 'Study Abroad' or equivalent department! Its really to bad you couldn't have come over this semester, it would have rocked to have another computery person here!
